The Quilt Fairy

The Quilt Fairy is a romantic short story, by Beverly Farr.  SewCalGal found it a delightful sweet read for anyone, but definitely a "must read" for all quilters!

The book is focused on a House Fairy, who can also be called a Quilt Fairy.  And it is written by Beverly Farr, who writes an inviting story about Margaret, the Quilt Fairy.  Without giving away the story, I think we'd all welcome Margaret into our home to stay forever.  And, after you read this book, I think even if she doesn't come to live with you, you'll carry the Quilt Fairy in your heart.

This book was a fun read that quacked me up. I thoroughly reading about Fairies that help in the Garden, as well as the House.  But when it came to being a Quilt Fairy, I pondered if we'd have so many UFOs if we had a Quilt Fairy living with us.

This book is currently a free downloadable book on Amazon, but I'm not certain how long it will be free.  Either way, I hope you'll also enjoy reading the Quilt Fairy.  And, if you have already read this book, please share your thoughts too!

Scraps of Evidence - Excellent Murder Mystery (Five Stars - * * * * *)

SewCalGal is delighted to be able to share insights with you today on another book, published under the Quilts of Love imprint, by Abington Press.

Scraps of Evidence, by Barbara Cameron is an excellent murder mystery, which SewCalGal gives five stars (* * * * *).  This is a delightful read that you'll not want to set down and when you are finished you'll want more.  As the book finishes in a way that looks like it could be a perfect setting for a follow-on book, I'm certainly hopeful that Barbara Cameron will write a sequel to this wonderful book.  Either way, I'll be happy to read more books by her, as well as anything in the Quilts of Love series and I'm pretty confident you'll feel the same way after you read this book!

PRESS RELEASE:

About the book:

A quilt holds the clues to life and death.

Tess has taken some ribbing from her fellow officer, Logan, for her quilting hobby. He finds it hard to align the brisk professional officer he patrols with during the day with the one who quilts in her off-time. Besides, he’s been trying to get to know her better and he’d like to be seeing her during those few nights a week she spends with her quilting guild.

Then one afternoon Tess and Logan visit her aunt in the nursing home, and the woman acts agitated when Tess covers her with the story quilt. Aunt Susan is attempting to communicate a message to them about Tess’s uncle. There’s a story behind this quilt, they realize, one that may lead them to a serial killer. Will they have a chance to have a future together, or will the killer choose Tess for his next victim before they find him?

Book Review and Giveaway: A Road Unknown

Today, I'm happy to share insights with you about a new Amish Fiction book that makes for a delightful read, as well as a giveaway for a $200 Visa Card.

Press Release on "A Road Unknown"

A Road Unknown

PRESS RELEASE

RELYING ON GOD TO MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION

CAMERON SHARES A STORY ABOUT FINDING ONE’S WAY IN THE MIDST OF UNCERTAINTY IN A ROAD UNKNOWN

10/11/13 | Seattle:  When you come to a fork in the road, how do you decide where to go when your heart tells you to go left but your head says right? Barbara Cameron takes readers on a journey of new experiences, uncertainties and faith in the first book in the Amish Roads series, A Road Unknown(Abingdon/February 4, 2014/ISBN: 978-1-4267-4059-6/$14.99). Although set in a quaint Amish backdrop, we’ve all faced the same dilemma as Cameron’s lead character who feels as if she is being pulled in two different directions.
Elizabeth Bontrager wants to change her life, and with her upcoming rumspringe, or “running around,” she has just the opportunity to do so. She’s been given the chance to experience life outside of her community, away from the responsibility to care for her eight younger siblings. However, Elizabeth can’t decide which path to take: Goshen is her home, but Paradise, Pennsylvania, sounds inviting. Considering it’s also home to her Englisch friend, Paula, Elizabeth decides to pack her bags and see what Paradise has to offer.
Will the small town of Paradise live up to its name? And will Elizabeth be able to handle the new pressures and challenges of life outside the Amish community? When Elizabeth meets Paula’s friend, Bruce, she quickly learns he wants more than a friendship. The same might be true of Saul Miller, her new boss at the country story that sells Amish products to the Englisch community. As the two compete for her attention, Elizabeth is surprised to realize she misses her family and becomes even more uncertain about where she belongs. She has a choice to make: return home or embrace this new life and possibly a new love.
With all the hype about Amish youths breaking away from their roots in recent reality television shows, Cameron sets some common misconceptions straight about the Amish in A Road Unknown. “These shows are extremely inaccurate and don’t resemble any Amish I’ve ever met.” Cameron explains. “Some have even been discovered to be actors. We have many misconceptions about the Amish youth: they’re going wild and so on and that their parents condone or ignore such behavior. This isn’t true.” Studies have shown that nearly 90 percent stay in their Amish communities and join the church.
Cameron hopes A Road Unknown will help readers gain a better understanding as to how to find the right path in life. “Anyone feeling at a crossroads in life should stand back and ask God for guidance,” Cameron advises. “Jumping impulsively is almost always a problem although you can over-analyze things. Listen for divine guidance and always pay attention to the still small voice you have within.”
The journey doesn’t end here; Cameron is completing the Amish Roads series with two more books, Crossroads and One True Path. Each release in the series tells the story of a young person facing choices about her next phase of life. The young women in all three installments learn that love finds you when you least expect it and sometimes it takes the courage to take a different road to find the true path to love and happiness.
