Easy Project Idea for Fundraisers

The majority of my quilting, sewing & embroidery projects get donated to various charities.  Recently, I've been working on a couple of different fundraisers, plus making quilts for charities (e.g. Linus, Camp Reach For The Sky, etc.).  This last Saturday night I helped with a silent auction fundraiser.  While there were many delightful items on the silent auction table, one of the very popular items that many were bidding on was this cute flannel rag quilt that had a Pirate theme.  I found a cute kids hat with a Pirate motif, and some other pirate accessorites to go with it.

In making this quilt, I used several different flannel scraps, including some fabric that I found that had a Pirate theme design.

This flannel rag quilt was made quickly and very economically, primarily with flannel scraps.  So, I was very happy when I saw that the winner was so delighted with this quilt and had won it with a very generous donation to this fundraiser.

I believe the reason this quilt was so easy & fast to make, is that I used the AccuQuilt Go cutter.  While I love to make quilts to go to charity programs that help children, I was very happy to see  this quilt help raise a sizeable amount of money at a silent auction fundraiser.  I couldn't have done it without the AccuQuilt Go cutter.  So, if you are ever looking for something for a silent auction/raffle fundraiser, think of using the AccuQuilt Go cutter to help quickly make a beautiful quilt that you can use to help raise money for your fundraiser!  I think such an AccuQuilt Go quilting project would make a great school or church fundraiser, as well help create beautiful items for many other fundraisers.  The precision cutting also allows you to bring in help by non-quilters (as you don't need to be an experienced quilter to accurately cut fabrics using the AccuQuiltGo cutter).

AccuQuilt is offering a $25 in-store coupon in Fons & Porter’s Love of Quilting Nov/Dec 2009 issue! Save $25 off the retail purchase price of $350 for the GO! Fabric Cutter. Surprise someone for the holidays or treat yourself! Find coupon on pg. 95 of the issue, available on newsstands now; http://tiny.cc/htvlS
