Luella’s Quilt Basket

Luella is one of those people that are gifted with spotting talent and encouraging it to blossom and grow. There are several quilt designers that can credit Luella for given them the encouragement for becoming professional quilt designers, including Nancy Hammond of Sand & Sun Designs. I really can’t wait to make some quilts using designs where Luella inspired the designers. This is very exciting to me, and heartwarming, just like Luella.

Luella’s is very active in helping others. Luella’s is a collection point for Project Linus. Luella’s Quilt Club is also actively collecting NICU quilts. And they also host sew-cials for Quilts of Valor. Their next sew-cial for Quilts of Valor Foundation is scheduled on August 28th, 6pm to midnight. Participants in the QOV sew-cials bring their supplies to make a quilt, or bring orphan blocks, extra strips, etc. During the evening the group works to make beautiful quilts for QOV. And, everyone brings a dish to share for a delightful potluck dinner. This sounds like a fun sew-cial and for a great cause!

Plus, Luella's has an excellent staff that is very friendly and helpful.

They are also a Husqvarna Viking Dealer and offer a broad selection of embroidery, quilting, and sewing classes. And this summer they offered several workshops to teach kids how to sew.

And, to my delight, Luella’s is planning on starting an Embroidered Block of the Month Club. This club will help you learn new embroidery and quilting skills, and you’ll end up with a beautiful quilt created with embroidered blocks. I’m sew excited about this new Embroidered Block of the Month Club. What a great idea and it sounds like sew much fun!

During the IQF Long Beach Show, I was able to meet Luella in person. She is a delightful woman, who is a very sharp business person. And like t take this opportunity to congratulate her on 21 years of business! She had a lovely booth at the IQF Long Beach show, with many delightful fabrics and quilts on display. Now I can’t wait to go visit her store in Redondo Beach, and I hope you too will get a chance to go to Luella’s soon.
