The Holiday Season arrives regardless of being ready for it or not. To avoid the risk of being overwhelmed, I have a few recommendations:
1) Breath....take a deep breadth and remember the Holiday Season isn't all about doing, but being. Being with family and friends is definitely number one.
2) Don't lose your inner balance. For most quilters and crafters that is our sense of creativity. Even if you only get to spend 15 minutes creating, take advantage of it. But you can also feel creative by being around others that are creative. Don't overlook the opportunity to encourage others and recognize their creativity, with thoughtful words!
3) Simply enjoy the simple things. Don't overlook opportunities to have fun and create such opportunities too! Fun can be simple! And fun doesn't have to mean you need to spend money to have fun either.
Here are a few fun things you may want to do, that are free or minimal cost:
Jacquelynne Steves Holiday Hullabaloo Blog Hop
Jacquelynn is hosting a super fun blog hop where you'll find inspiration, fun and oodles of amazing "mystery" prizes sponsored by Jacquelynne Steves. Yes, at each stop in this hop you have a chance to win a Mystery prize with a retail value of $15-$30. Plus, there will be a Grand Prize with a retail value of $75. Here is the line up for this fun hop:

Sew Cal GalWednesday Dec. 4
Bejeweled Quilts by Barb
Upstairs Hobby Room
Freemotion by the River
A Quilt & a PrayerFriday Dec. 6
Tami’s Quilting Adventure
Needled Mom
And consider getting together with quilty friends and create your own Holiday Party. This could be a sew-cial where you all work on your own projects, or a new holiday project/craft project. Or maybe you go out to lunch and visit your local quilt shop. What ever you do, have have fun and enjoy some time together this Holiday season.
You may also want to think about your quilty and crafty goals (aka resolutions) for 2014. Possibly it will be to take a class to learn a new technique, or to continue to improve your skills. Or maybe to attend a favorite quilt show or craft show in 2014. Don't let these goals become stressful, but look at them for finding inspiration to guide you to a Happy New Year doing exactly what you enjoy doing!
SewCalGal wishes you a very Happy Holiday Season full of fun and creativity, yet simple enough to truly enjoy every moment of the season.
