Mixed Media Playtime - Embossing With Metals Using the eBosser

Many quilters that enjoy mixed-media Art Quilts have  incorporated metal embossing in their projects to create spectacular results.  There are a number of products from copper foils, metal sheets, wire cloth, metal screens, etc. and you can texturize, stain and paint.  Recently, I've been exploring using Craftwell's eBosser with various embossing templates from eBosser, Sizzix and others.  The eBosser easily embosses lightweight metals and the possibilities of what you can create are endless.

It is quite easy to place metals, cardstock, papers, etc inside of embossing folders.  And, then you simply stack them in the ebosser layers and feed them into the electronic eBosser.

I decided to play with some inexpensive foil that can be easily found at Home Depot, Lowes, or other hardware stores.  Pipe Wrap Insulation tape, or other metal plumbing tapes, can work well for embossing projects.

Such metal embossing can easily be added to greeting cards.

And you can add them to fabric to create that extra sparkle.  Here I added some embossed metal to a simple luggage tag.

I'm far from being an expert on embossing metals, but certainly having fun.  If you have experience working with metals in mixed media, embossing metals, etc. I'd love to hear your recommendations.  And, I promise to share more as I have more time to play with metals and the eBosser.

This looks great. It gives a really professional finish. I hadn't realised home embossing was possible :)

Your projects really look nice! I haven't tried embossing metals and I think I should give it a try.
