Fun times coming next week for Road to California 2011 attendees

The Road to California Quilters’ Conference and Showcase begins next week.  This is actually the 16th Annual Show, and every year this event brings more pleasure to quilters than the previous year.  The quilts and items exhibited are always spectacular, along with the wonderful vendors.  Many come to this show by car, some by bus.  And many attendees fly in, from around the world, to attend this annual event.

As I find this show so inspiring, I'm incorporating some photos from prior shows in this post.

This show is one of the largest quilting events on The West Coast! The talented  John Flynn, from Montana, is the featured artist. John didn't start out as a quilter, but as a structural engineer working with bridges. Watching his wife Brooke quilt sparked an interest that continues to this day. It's a perfect match: John's "new" career allows him to utilize his mathematical and engineering skills, as well as his love of quilting.

Another featured exhibit is “Thread Tails and Vapor Trails” honoring the 100th anniversary of Naval Aviation. On display will be over 75 quilts created by quilters across the country commemorating the Centennial of Naval Aviation.

The Merchant Mall will have over 170 vendors and will be a home sewer, quilter or crafters shopping paradise. Vendors will be selling the latest the quilt world has to offer in fabrics, threads, patterns, sewing machines, long-arm machines, notions, and more…

There are several new vendors at Road this year that I hope you'll take time to visit and welcome to this show: Bigfork Bay Cotton Co. , Designs with Lines - Log Cabin Dry Goods, England Designs, Ghee's, Heritage Crafts, Little Windows, Kaye Moore Designs, Mary Jo Hiney Designs, Nancy Rink Designs, Quilt Album, Redlands Sewing Center, Sizzix, Innova Long Arm, Traditions at the White Swan.

And there are several vendors, which have been at this show previously, that I think you'll enjoy taking time to visit their booths at this show this year:
Cozy Quilt Designs  (be sure to check out their new patterns and the new Cutting Corners Ruler)
Honey Run Quilters
Java House Quilts
Kaleidoscope Collections
Luella's Quilt Basket
Quilt in a Day (be sure to check out their new patterns and their Machine Quilting Primer book)
Sulky of America

The show will be held next Thursday through Saturday, January 20 - 22, 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM and Sunday, January 24, 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM.  Cost: One-Day Admission - $10; Unlimited admission - $20.
Children 12 and under are free – strollers permitted Sunday only and No Rolling Carts in Vendor Mall or Exhibit Area.

The Ontario Convention Center, is located at 2000 E. Convention Center Way, Ontario, CA.  If you are driving, take the Vineyard Avenue Exit off I-10.

That one is too far for me, but I did see the Vermont one and might try to make that, this year and there is also the MQX show in Providence.
