It's All About The Kids - A Blogging Event with Blogging Friends, Giveaways and More!

Next week SewCalGal will be focusing on kid friendly projects, that they might do on their own, or for in a family craft time session.  And, I'll have some blogging friends that will join in, as well as some sponsored giveaways.

I realized I had several blog posts planned that have a kid theme and I was thinking about how many of us find our inner peace and balance when we take time to create.  And, as kids also have stress, I want to encourage us all to look for ways to help kids be crafty and enjoy creating.

Most of us start creating with colored pencils and crayons.  Of course, some of us are still having great fun creating with those tools, after MANY years!  While many of us enjoy quilting, some enjoy knitting, crochet, drawing, painting, embroidery, sewing, photography, paper crafts/cardmaking, working with clay, metal or wood, as well as so many other crafty materials.  Thus, I'm hoping that next week you'll follow along, or maybe even share insights on your blog or flickr, and join the linky party on this page, where we all share "kid friendly" projects, or projects that make for great gifts for kids.  And, some of us find ways to earn money by way of our handmade items, as well as teaching others. As such, I was very inspired when I learned about two kids that have created a business where they use YouTube to share tutorials for making crafty items.  I found it so inspirational I wanted to share it with you today:

Kimberly Geswein is a very talented Font Designer and I enjoy following her blog.

She recently shared a podcast on her blog, that inspired me and I wanted to share it with you today.  Fortunately, Kimberly approved me to share this with you, but I still want to encourage you to visit her delightful blog where you can learn more about her beautiful fonts, enjoy more of her podcasts, as well as enjoy insights she shares on her blog.

For now, I'm hoping you'll listen to this recent podcast "Inspiration for Entrepreneurs" where Kimberly interviews her very talented daughter, Kate.

And I also hope you'll take time to watch some YouTube Videos from Pirate Donut Designs. I'm now a happy follower of their videos and you or your kids may want to follow too.  I'm also eager to see the day come when these two girls have their own class on Craftsy , as well as a published.

While this blogging event next week won't be a traditional blog hop, I do have blogging friends that want to join me  this coming week to help promote awareness of the benefits of creating a crafting environment for kids.  We'll be sharing insights on products, project, tips, tutorials, and inspiration for a variety of crafts.  Obviously you'll find some insights on quilting projects for kids, but you'll also find ideas for embroidery, sewing, knitting, crochet, doodling and much, much more.

SewCalGal wants to thank and recognize sponsors of this event, who have also donated prizes for giveaways.

Some of the participating bloggers will also be hosting giveaways and SewCalGal will be sharing insights in the daily posts this week, as I have more info to share.  But it was not a requirement to host a giveaway, to join this event, as I do appreciate those that take time to share inspirational insights on kid friendly projects, to help them get exposed to a variety of crafts and hopefully learn to find happiness while creating.

While I'm sharing the line up for this blog hop, there are several that are involved in Quilt Market and/or juggling items and not yet able to confirm if they can participate, or if they do, which day.  So, I hope you'll check back, as I'll be updating this post to show the line up, as it is firmed up, as well as provide direct links here.  I'll also be posting daily for this event and include daily links to blogs that are participating. For now, plan on visiting:

If you are a blogger or non-blogger and would like to join the fun and share insights on projects suitable for kids, tips, or tutorials, as appropriate, you are also welcome to join the fun and add a link to the linky below.  Non-bloggers can upload photos in a Flickr group called "It's All About The Kids".

There are a variety of ways to win prizes.  Here are the rules (aka basic guidelines)
1) Bloggers participating in this event and hosting their own giveaways will set their own rules.  While SewCalGal will help increase awareness of their giveaways, during this event, specifically on the day that their giveaways are  open, the prize details are up to the blogger hosting that specific giveaway.
2) For sponsored giveaways , for this event, on SewCalGal, all bloggers participating in this hop, as well as bloggers and non-bloggers that join the linky party, are all eligible to enter to win a prize.  They'll be a couple of different ways to enter and the details will be announced next week, and they will be shared as each giveaway during the week.  Basically, you get an entry as a participating blogger, non-blogger that takes time to share tips, tutorials, inspirational projects to help kids be crafty, as well as families create family crafty events.
3) NON-BLOGGERS need to have a free Flickr Account and upload their photo entries to Flickr, as well as making sure their photos are added to a group on Flickr called "Kid Friendly Craft Projects" 4) SewCalGal will also give entries to win prizes to those followers that take time to visit all of the official participating blogs, which SewCalGal showcases in the lineup, and you leave a positive comment on their blog post shared for this event.
5) There will also be a few extra ways to enter, based on the rafflecopter form, for those that may follow sponsors, as well as participating bloggers, on Facebook or Twitter. Totally optional, but for those that like more than one chance to win a giveaway prize, there are a few extra ways to enter.

This post will be updated to show the randomly selected winners, to be announced the week of November 3rd.  SewCalGal will also send an email to the winners and they will have 3 business days to claim their prize, or another winner will be randomly selected and notified.

If you have questions, please check ny FAQ. If the FAQ doesn't answer your question, please email meemail address copy and I'll try to get back to you within 24 hours.
