Patchwork Sassaman Style Blog Hop & Giveaway

SewCalGal is delighted to be part of the Blog Hop to celebrate the publication of Patchwork Sassaman Style and have a chance to share insights with you about this book today!  And, I'm truly honored to be part of the group of bloggers participating in this hop.  Many are so very talented, with a mix of art quilters and traditional quilters, that have all fallen in love with this wonderful new book.

Patchwork Sassaman Style:  Recipes for Dazzling Quilts, by Jane Sassaman, published by Dragon Threads is a "must have" book for those that enjoy working with fancy fabrics, or wants to learn how to work with such fabrics to make beautiful quilts.

Jane is an award winning quilter, teacher, author and fabric designer.  The beautiful fabrics used in this book are  produced by FreeSpirit.  In this book, there is a "History and Designing Fabric" section where Jane shares personal insights to many and definitely for those interested in becoming a fabric designer.  But, they also share insight on what Jane refers to as "speak my language" where you can quickly fall in love with her specialty of using big, bold fabric designs to make amazing works of art.  And, with her techniques, you are really making an easy quilt that is spectacular, as you let the fabric do the work!

Sassaman fabric samples

"Recipes" are shared for how to construct a variety of blocks and quilts, that range from a Whole Cloth quilt, Amish Bars, various patches, diamonds, and more.  The use of big prints that are bright and bold will really take simple quilt designs to a new level in quilting!

The designs have easy to follow instructions with great visuals.  But, the photos in this book are so amazing that the book itself is a form of art.

Warning:  You'll not want to leave this book on a shelf, but have it on a coffee table for everyone to enjoy.

Here is the line up for this blog hop.  While each participant is hosting a giveaway, some of the giveaways on prior stops in this hop have already closed.  Still, these blogs share some great insights on this book that you may want to pop over and visit.
