Quilt Fiesta! book review, Blog Hop & Giveaway
Cheryl Lynch may view SewCalGal as a stalker, as I've been following her blog for a long time. She is very talented and very inspirational. Thus, I was excited to hear that she was working on her first book and honored when she asked me to participate in the blog hop to help increase awareness of the publication of her first book, "Quilt Fiesta! surprising designs from Mexican tiles.".
Quilt Fiesta is an amazing book. I judge a quilt book based on its' ability to capture my interest, like reading a book, cover to cover, as well as to inspire, along with the the quality of the designs and instructions. My overall impression, is Quilt Fiesta will be a very popular book and one you will want to check out.
Martingale & Company, home of that Patchwork Place is the publisher for Quilt Fiesta. And, once again, they've published an excellent book with great visuals, instructions and tips. Clearly, Cherly Lynch and Martingale & Company have created an excellent book for quilters that range a variety of skill levels, from beginner to advanced, with the release of "Quilt Fiesta".
What I found to be such a surprise in this book, is how Cheryl shared insights on what inspired her to create this book. She also shared these insights in a manner that encourages us to look for inspiration we can find everywhare, from nature to architecture, fabric, other people's art, and different cultures. But this particular book can about from her journeys in Mexico where she was inspired with hand-painted pottery and tiles.
Cheryl does an excellent job show how to take beautiful artwork, from designs inspired from beautiful tiles, to fusible applique' with insights on how to stitch by machine, or by hand. She also shares insights on foundation paper piecing, quilt construction, binding, labeling your quilt and more.
There are ten spectacular quilt projects in this book, each with well written instructions. Some use applique', yet others are beautifully pieced. Sizes range 12 1/2" x 16" to 51 1/2" x 61". I also belive it would be easy to adapt these designs for a variety of sizes, as well as use many of these spectacular designs in your free-motion quilting, to make them even more special.
I truly do believe Quilt Fiesta is a spectacular quilt book that will help quilters, of all levels, make beautiful quilts.
I also am already looking forward to future quilt books by Cheryl Lynch. She is a very talented quilter that is certainly helping to make our world of quilting wonderful.
You can also order a copy of Quilt Fiesta from Martingale & Company's online store, but I also hope you'll have a chance to check it out at your local quilt store. I do think you'll love this book too!
All of the participants on this blog hop are currently listed on the page of my blog labeled "giveaways & contests". The blogs that still have active giveaways where are you enter to win a copy are: Quiltville , Finger Lakes Art, Lucky Duck Dreams, Amy's Creative Side, the Root Connection, and Cheryl Lynch's blog will also have a post for this blog hop tomorrow. All of of the blogs in this blog hop shared insights on this wonderful book and are fun to visit, but there are at least 8 opportunities to win a copy of this lovely book.
And, if you are interested in winning a signed copy of "Quilt Fiesta" you can also leave a comment on this post. Cheryl has given me a signed copy to giveaway too! I'll randomly draw a winner on Tuesday,March 8th ...sometime that evening. {this giveaway is now closed}
