Scraps Taking Up Space ? - Join The Fun Of The 4th Annual Scrap Challenge, Hosted By Fabrics N Quilts

Has life given you scraps and your waiting for a reason to use them?  Fabrics N Quilts is wanting to help you reduce scraps you may have in your stash.  And, SewCalGal wants to encourage everyone to join the fun and use your scraps!

The 4th Annual Scrap Quilt Challenge is underway, but there is still plenty of time to join in the fun.

This challenge is so simple, don't get caught fooling yourself thinking it is complicated.  It really is all about making a quilt of just about any size, provided it is bigger than 45"x60".  You can use any pattern, design, or color.  You need to submit a photo of your finished quilt to the Flickr group, which Shannon has created, by October 15th.  Winners will be randomly chosen.  Sounds easy peasy to me and what a fun way to use up scraps!

To make it more fun, every month there is a free tutorial to a block, provided by an expert quilter as a bonus for participating in this challenge.  You can use these blocks, make an entire quilt with one of the blocks, but as mentioned earlier, you can use any pattern you want (free, purchased, or your own design).

In July, a free block pattern was provided by Anne Wiens.

In August, a block pattern was provided by Nancy Mahoney

On September lst, Michele Foster/Miska's Playground will provide a free block pattern and on October lst, Joan Ford/Hummingbird Highway will provide the 4th free block pattern.

And participants in this challenge have a chance to win over 20 wonderful prizes!

SewCalGal would love to hear from followers who are participating in this Scrap Challenge.  And I look forward to seeing photos of your project.  Of course,SewCalGal also wants to encourage followers to think of using scraps to make Christmas gifts and also entering your finished project in one of the monthly linky parties for the Make It! A Handmade Christmas Challenge.

Again, don't overlook how easy the 4th Annual Scrap Quilt Challenge is.  Pull out your scraps.  Make a quilt of any style, any size (just larger than 45"x60") and submit a photo of your finished project to the Flickr Group for this challenge.

I have already made quilts for this challenge and posted photos. My flickr name is quilts by lisa. Some of them might be things I have or will post for the handmade Christmas challenge. Love using scraps and love making gifts!

does the quilt have to include the free patterns given?

Susan - No, it really is a simple challenge. The free block patterns given away are just a “bonus” of this challenge.
