When we think of double wedding rings we naturally think of a wedding. And, of course, the double wedding ring quilt is a popular handmade gift to give to any couple getting married, or celebrating a special anniversary.
With Wedding season on our door step, this seems like a perfect time to share with you one of my absolutely favorite reads: The Double Wedding Ring, by Clare O'Donohue, published by Pume Books, an imprint of the Penguin Books
The Double Wedding Ring is book five in the Someday Quilt Series, with Nell Fitzgerald. Nell is not only a talented quilter, but also solves crimes. This delightful read is a who-dun-it murder mystery with romance, suspense, quilting and a number of wonderful characters. The only problem with this book is you won't want to set it down and it leaves you eager to read another book in this engaging series.
In The Double Wedding Ring, Nell is scrambling to help prepare for the upcoming wedding of her grandmother, while her relationship with the police chief Jesse Dewalt is heating up. And, she is also thinking of starting her own quilt design business. The plot gets mysterious when Jesse's former partner from NYPD turns up --dead.
SewCalGal loves Nell and found this book difficult to put down. The characters are realistic, as is the plot, yet it keeps the reader entertained and eager to read the next book in the Someday Quilt Series.
I definitely agree, Nell is a modern day Miss Marple (but Nell also likes to quilt and design).
Whether you have a wedding to attend in the near future, or not, I hope you get a chance to to check out this book. It is a delightful read.
You should be able to find this book in premier quilt shops, as well as your favorite books stores. If not, let them know you are interested in having them have this book available for purchase in their store. Of course, you can also find it availabe for purchase online at Penguin Group, or from Amazon.com
Did I Mention A Giveaway?
SewCalGal was given a copy of this absolutely delightful book to review, with the understanding I would share my own opinion. And, I could giveaway my copy to a follower of SewCalGal.

I've enjoyed her other books. Thanks for the chance to win.
I can`t wait to read it! Sounds great!
I attended my niece's wedding YESTERDAY!!! Of course it was beautiful! It was an outdoor wedding in April in Ohio. It rained all day and the rain stopped about an hour before the 6:30 pm wedding. It was in downtown Columbus, Ohio, in an old warehouse setting. Just stunning pictures with the gloomy sky and the bright pink bridesmaid dresses. Can't wait to see what the awesome photographer did with all the fun stuff at the venue. Oh, I could go on and on... but thanks for the chance to win.
I've never made a Double Wedding Ring quilt.
We have 2 family weddings this year....no double wedding ring quilts in the future, unfortunately!
The book sounds awesome and I love to read about as much as I love to sew. There are no weddings coming up, but I did make a Double wedding Ring quilt. It is cream with hunter green and burgandy arches. I really love it. Thank you so much for the giveaway.
I would love to read this book.
Wow, it must be coincidence! I am working on J. N. Double Wedding Ring &Stars...I have over 3000 pieces in it already. It would be a great time to sit and take a break.
I actually attended a wedding last weekend for the first time in many years. I hope to someday be able to make one of those lovely quilts.
Hi! I have a template for a DWR on my computer but I have never gotten around to trying it.
I read the first book in this series and loved it! I did make a double wedding ring wallhanging with photos for a gift, about 15 years ago.
This sounds like a great new series! Thanks for the chance at the giveaway and all the quilting inspiration from your blog!
Everyone wants me to make a double wedding ring quilt. I've only been quilting for two years peeps! Obviously, I'm not qualified yet.
I have every intention of making a double wedding ring quilt. I have had the templates for quite a while now. Seems like other projects have got in the way. I'm looking forward to making one some day though.
No weddings coming up this year, but there are a few babies. Even so a Double WEdding Ring quilt is definitely on the list of quilts I hope to make some day. And I would love to read the book. Thanks for a chance to win it.
I made a Double Wedding Ring for my brothers wedding gift, it was massive, it hung over the sides of a queen bed. I was and still am so proud of that quilt as it was the first curved piecing I had ever done but it turned out so beautifully and they loved it.
Hi, SewCalGal! I've read the first four in this series, can't wait to see what Nell does next. I did just deliver a queen-size wedding quilt, but not double wedding ring pattern. They seemed to love it!
I've read the 1st 2 books in this series and LOVED them!!
Thanks for the chance to win!!
The double wedding ring is on my maybe someday list :) My great-grandmother made one. It actually belonged to one of my younger brothers, but I got to keep it safe until he settled down. Beautiful and all hand-stitched.
I have a beautiful king double wedding ring that I am entering in my guild quilt show this June. I did not make it - I did do the binding. A couple of years ago, a good friend who was 89 years old made it for me on a treadle sewing machine. I had it professionally quilted. My husband died last July before I got it bound. He loved the red, white, and blue fabrics in it. He helped me select them. I want to honor my 91 year old friend who made it. And I love to read.
Sounds like this book would be a really good read. It has to grab my attention, and if you couldn't put it down I think it will be just fine lol. Besides, there is a cat on the cover... gotta be good! The double wedding ring quilt has been on my 'someday' list of quilts to make for a veeeeeerrrry long time - Thank you for sharing :)
Getting ready to go to a retreat and DWR--a new way is one of the classes. Think I'm going to make a table runner.

I've read the other Someday Quilts stories, and loved them. I have to find this one, too. I forgot it was released. As for a DWR, it's on my bucket list. I don't have any weddings to go to this year, but I do want to make that quilt. I have the Go! die, so it's only a matter of picking the fabrics and finding time. Thanks for the review! Enjoy your day.
