While anytime of the year is perfect for a new bag, I'm always inspired to find a new "go to" bag pre-travel season. Of course, I also love to find great bag designs to make for gifts throughout the year, especially the holidays. And, I've also found goodsize handmade bags to also make for excellent auction/raffle items at fundraisers (filled with goodies or stand alone). Needless to say, I was excited to see a new book published on bags and wanted to share insights with you about it today.
An Illustrated Handbook of Handbag Design: The Better Bag Maker, by Nicole Mallealieu and published by C&T Publishing is packed with amazing tips and information to help sewing enthusiasts of all levels make spectacular bags.
Chapters are organized as:
Tools and Materials
Key Skills
Basic Bag Making Techniques
Basic Bag
The Projects
Resources
There are ten different unique projects in this book, all based off of one core design. The instructions are easy to follow and have great visuals. Each project is also categorized by skill level (e.g. beginner, advanced beginner, intermediate, confident).
