Can you think of anything more perfect for quilters to get together during cold winter months? How about getting together for some amazing shopping? Maybe an international class quilt show? And, even to take a class, or a few classes, to learn new skills and/or make beautiful quilts? Are you sitting down, cuddled up with a quilt? It can get better....you could do all of this in weather that is in the 70's!!!! Sorry, but as I was writing this post to invite you to join me I had to throw that in.
What do you need to do to join the fun? You can simply take the road to the Road to California Conference and Quilt Show. Or take a plane. What ever you do - come. This event is amazing. Did I mention weather in the 70's? Well, I lied. This next week it will be in the 80's. Check the weather for yourself, if you don't trust me! The odds are quite good our weather will be in the 70's for this event, which is definitely better than any minus (-) temperature. Ok, if you are living in an area severely impacted by cold weather you have total permission to throw scraps at me now. SewCalGal really just wants you to come join the fun at this event:
Road to California Conference and Showcase
January 20-26, 2014
No Rolling Carts Allowed, and Strollers on Sunday Only
Show Hours and General Admission
Thursday - Saturday 9 AM - 6 PM
Sunday 10 AM - 3:30 PM
Classes Begin Monday January 20 • Preview Night, Wednesday January 22
This quilt conference hosts amazing world class quilting teachers and tend to sell out quickly. But, on a positive side they have so many classes to choose from and they add many classes after the initial registration is open. Thus, there are a few classes with openings now. And, you can always attend this event and look for classes that may have had last minute cancellations that you might want to attend.
Here are a few classes that have openings that caught my attention:
1011 Design It, Draw It with Karen McTavish
1203 Love Birds, Machine Embroidered Applique' with Patsy Thompson
And don't forget while many classes are sold out, there are many that still have openings. I only shared a few of my favorites with you today, that still have openings. To view the entire class schedule and descriptions click here
To register for a class, you need to create a free account and login at https://online.roadtocalifornia.com
And, the Quilt Show at Road is always spectacular. Difficult to believe that some quilters come from far away and only take classes (don't stay for the show), yet others travel great distances to attend only the show (don't take a class). While SewCalGal recommends both, if you can only do one - just be sure you get a chance to attend this amazing event.
Plus, we have 70 degree weather in Southern California! Yes, you should make plans to attend right now. You'll be delighted you did.
