Did I mention a giveaway?

Martingale & Company is sponsoring this giveaway for followers of SewCalGal.  This is the first giveaway on SewCalGal that is trying to use Rafflecopter to help randomly select winners.  As I try to match the winners up to their preferred choice of prizes, whenever their is multiple prizes, I'm honestly not certain how this will work with Rafflecopter.  So, I hope everyone will understand if I need to override Rafflecopter and randomly select based on comments below, but please use Rafflecopter as I'm hoping that I can rely on this tool to select the winners and match them up to their preferred prize.

a Rafflecopter giveaway

I also want to thank Michelle (Quilty Stuff), who is our Postage Angel for the giveaway this week (and for the August Prize in the 2012 Free-Motion Quilting Challenge too!).  SewCalGal appreciates Postage Angels for helping to support shipping expenses of prizes on SewCalGal and she hopes you also appreciate them too.  As such, you may want to hop on over and visit Michelle's delightful blog - Quilty Stuff and leave her a note of thanks too!

Don't forget you can find Martingale at your local quilt shop, as well as at:

The giveaway last week  was sponsored by Hoffman California Fabrics for a bundle of fabrics that SewCalGal calls a "sushi bundle", as they have so many yummy fabrics of different flavors in the bundle.  Congratulations to Sharon S (Sharon Seams 2 Be) who is the lucky winner of the yummy sushi bundle of Hoffman Fabrics.

It's taken me awhile to figure out how to use the raffle copter. I've left a lot of blank comments in the process!! Not my favorite. Wow, what a tough choice. I think I favor the Urban Country Quilt book, but it's almost tied with the Blocks, Borders, Quilts. Thanks for this opportunity!

I'd love a chance at Urban Country Quilts. I LOVED the quilts you showed from that book. Using Rafflecopter sounds like a great idea!

My favorite is Urban Country Quilts. I don't mind using Rafflecopter except when there are many possible entries for each person, as in this case. I find it very annoying.

Inge Lise said...

I would love to win it all - but a single book would bring great happiness and gratitude with me, so now I am hoping for luck. If I had to choose - and it is so difficult - so it was enough: Urban Country Quilts.

Skip the Borders. I would love to give that a go!

Jennie Bobbins said...

My favorite book here is Skip The Borders: Easy Patterns for Modern Quilts. I think Rafflecopter is ok. I like not having to mess with comment forms sometimes if there's word verification.

Marcia W. said...

Favorite book: Skip the Borders by Julie H.; next to favorite book is Blocks, Borders, Quilts by Sunny.
I do not like Rafflecopter because it never works smoothly and takes forever to load (dial-up). I like making one comment on giveaways.

Apparently I'm not smart enough to figure out raffle copter but Urban Country Quilts would be my choice if I were to be lucky enough to win.

Like the book blocks borders and quilts. I prefer to leave a comment, rafflecopter never lets me sign in with facebook. Too much work.... Thanks for the giveaway.

FlourishingPalms said...

"Best Wall Quilts," but I could easily be persuaded to accept another! Thanks for this chance to win. Seems like Rafflecopter is a great program, especially if it makes it easier for you.

Pat V. said...

I like Blocks, Borders, Quilts the best. I have no problem using Rafflecopter, but the real question is, does it work for you, the giveaway hostess? If it makes your life easier, use it (I'm not a blogger, so I have no idea what it does on your end.)

What Comes Next? said...

They are all great looking books, but Skip the Borders would be my first choice.

Sewgirl said...

I would be happy with any of the books really, but Block, Borders, Quilts would be my first choice. I think using raffecopter is fine, as long everyone can figure out how to use it.

June D said...

Hmm - my comment is not being saved? I'll try again and this will say again they are all interesting but my top pick would be Block, Borders, Quilts.

Thanks.

Kristin said...

Any would be great, but the Skip the Borders or the Block, Borders, Quilts would be at the top.

I checked out Martingale's site and they have lots of goodies. I would vote for Skip the Borders if my name was the lucky one. Thanks to all for the chance to win such great books.

I can never get raffle copter to work right. Hate it. I'd love to have Urban Country Quilts if I were lucky enough to win.

skippie said...

Would really love to win Julie Hermann's book, "Skip the Borders" as it looks really interesting. Many thanks.

Beth said...

We have similar taste in books, judging by your list, since I have a couple and love them. :) I'd be thrilled to win the Wall Quilts books or the Borders and Blocks book.

I am a fan of Rafflecopter, but remember that before high-speed (only a few months ago for this rural-dweller), Raffllecopter was a pain for me. So that might be a factor for other commenters.

cpup40 said...

What a fantastic list of books, they all seem to be great ones. I love them all. It doesn't matter which one I get if I do win. Thank you for having such an extremely great giveaway.

Willa said...

Singular Sensations or Best Wall Quilts
But I think anything new would be inspirational!

Thanks.

Barb N said...

I've been really interested in Skip the Borders for some time now and would love to have that one. As for Rafflecopter, I'm not sure how that would work for the type of drawing you have today, but otherwise it's probably okay. It does seem to take the person touch out of a giveaway though.

Josie McRazie said...

I like both skip the boarders (she has a blog hopngoing on right now) or urban county quilts! :o)

free indeed said...

I'd like to win the Urban Country book. I am drawn to some of these more 'modern' look quilts, but want to use my already burgeoning stash rather than having to buy lots of solids. This will give me the push to try a less traditional quilt. Thanks Darlene.
As for Rafflecopter...I have mixed feelings. I like when the links to have to go somewhere (like fb are imbedded in the instructions) but I'm getting bogged down in all the social medias...I don't really want to follow a blog/business 15 different ways :)

Patchworks said...

Love them all but Urban Country quilts certainly looks good but any book would be fine. Inspiration for me has to come from the work of others. I live in a remote community on an island, with limited choices in where I can acquire fabric for quilting so my female relatives on the mainland often send me yard sale finds and such. I started quilting at a very young age, learning from my grandmother who made lovely quilts but nothing like today's. I guess they were as she said, "hard times quilts" made from used clothing and leftovers from other things she had made for her 13 children. She was 100 when she died and I miss her still today. I managed to find some scraps left over from a dress she had made for herself, purple peacock feather print, and I used this to make pieces for a Dresden plate quilt for my mom and myself. Every time I see that piece in the block I smile and think about the wonderful inspiration she was to me and my life. Her motto in life was "if a job is worth doing, it's worth doing well" I still try to make her proud with all my projects.

BizyStitches said...

I would love any of the books. But if I truly had to choose I guess it would be "Urban Country Quilts" Thanks for the chance to win. I really dont like this kind of entry. Some times it gets way to confussing. I like the simply leave a message about ??

JoyceLM said...

Singular Sensations is my favorite of the list. Rafflecopter is fine, though there can be some confusion. It offers space within it for comments, but you may also have to add the comment to the blog post. The blogger needs to make that clear. Thanks for the giveaway.

Purl Buttons said...

I would like Sunny Steinkuhler's Blocks, Borders,Quilts! If I am fortunate enough to win.

sandyb said...

Best Wall Quilts has to be my favorite. I like to use Rafflecopter. I just like using it. It seems to be less confusing to see where I am and what I have done because some are moderated and I can see that my entry has been taken.

Thank you!

Debra G said...

I'd love "Skip the Borders," but any of these books would be a dream to add to my collection.

Ali said...

I like Skip the Borders best, and then Urban Country Quilts - I don't mind rafflecopter at all, except I actually like one entry contests, and I've seen some have 12 different options for you to enter and it gets a bit overwhelming!

Anonymous said...

I would love to win any one of these books, but most especially Quilts without Borders, it looks marvellous. Thanks!!

Stella Nemeth said...

I read through a RSS reader so the link took me to Rafflecopter and then suggested I come here to make my comment. I had to go back to Google to get here, but that was easy enough. I like the system.

I am most interested in the Best Wall Quilts book. I mostly am making wall quilts these days and that was a book that I put on my "want to buy" list.

Linda E in NM said...

I especially like the very large flowers over the basic squares (or 9 patches??).
All the books look interesting!

Jenniffier said...

I like skip the boarders and I love rafflecopter. I use it whenever I do a giveaway. No more no reply bloggers and I can keep track of what they people say they are doing. Plus no counting the entries. Perfect all around!

I really love it, it is amazing. hugs

Rebecca said...

I'm a big fan of Julie Herman so I'd love Skip the Borders!

Karen Propes said...

So hard to choose 1 as a favorite, love them all, but I like the Best Wall Quilts the most, but wow what a collection to choose a favorite from. Thanks for the giveaway.
Rafflecopter seems great when I use it. I have been very pleased, it cuts down on the making sure you don't do a task twice and gives you the total number of entries also. There is another form similar, don't know the name but I like it also. But most important is that there are great people like you out there holding these giveaways, so we can possibly win great products.

Urban Country Quilts has some really neat designs. :) I have no opinion on rafflecopter yet, as long as it's straightforward it should be fine. Hopefully it makes life easier for you, that's what's really important! :)

Not sure what the difference is yet with leaving comments. I do not follow facebook that often, put do check for replys.

I think all of those books are great, the McCALL'S Easy quilts is my favorite. They look complicated but the book says easy so I really like patterns like that. I am not fond of the rafflecopter as I don't always figure out how to use it. It is usually easier to just leave a regular comment but I am getting used to it so it will probably become easier.
