200 Blocks from Quiltmaker Magazine

SewCalGal is always looking for good tools for quilters, especially when they help to create beautiful quilts and other projects. As many quilters enjoy incorporating interesting blocks into their projects, and many have enjoyed the 100 Block Challenges, by Quiltmaker Magazine, I was delighted to learn of the new book "200 Blocks from Quiltmaker Magazine: Original Patterns from Today's Top Designers".  And, I'm delighted to be able to share insights with you today about this book. 

This book was created by Quiltmaker magazine, from their 100 block challenges, and published by Martingale/That Patchwork Place.

The  block designs in this book are displayed in full color and each block shows  designer name and  website, along with instructions for you to make the block.

The book also includes a "bonus CD", which includes full-sized  appliqué and foundation-piecing patterns that you can print as needed.  All blocks finish at 12".


Block designs range from simple patchwork to applique, foundation piecing, hand embroidery, and even include some yo-yos. There is also a section that shares insights on block settings, as well as a great block index that is very user-friendly.

You'll find blocks from many amazing designers, including, but not limited to:  Eleanor Burns, Karen Combs, Scott Murkin, Heidi Pridemore, Jackie Robinson, Gundrun Erla, Bonnie Hunter, marsha McCloskey, Jo Morton, Carrie Nelson, Anita Grossman Soloman, and so many more of your favorite quilt designers.

Kay Mackenzie (by Kay Mackenzie) shared  a cute Watering Can design.

Sharon Craig shared "Payton's Star".

Vickie Eapen (Spun Sugar Quilts) shared a cute "Infinity" Quilt block design.

Karen Brow (Java House Quilts) shared "Croaklore", a cute whimsical frog.

Bonnie Hunter shared a cute block called "Birthday Girl".

Susan Knapp and Mary Jane Mattingly shared a delightful block design called "Delicato".

There are many amazing designers that have shared quilt block designs in this new book. Some of the designers that caught my attention include:  Eleanor Burns, Emily Cier, Carol Doak, Joanna Figueroa, 

Kimberly Jolly, Pearl Pereira, Wendy Sheppard, and Pat Wys.
