Words of Encouragement

Life can be challenging.  We can dream and sometimes sometimes it becomes a reality.  But sometimes we need our family and friends to provide encouragement.  Words can make a difference.  Today, I want to share with you one of my favorite quotes:

You may be dreaming of a challenging quilt design, contemplating writing a book, making a special quilt to enter into a show, trying to learn a new skill, starting your own business, going back to school to get a degree, etc..   Go for it!  I'm confident you can accomplish whatever you want to do!

Great words and so true.

Thanks! Would you be believe that I have been thinking about making the Jane Stickle quilt? I saw one at the quilt show on Saturday and it made me start thinking about it again. My sister thinks I'm nuts with all the quilting. Luckily, the rest of my family is supportive, but sometimes it gets to me. I think I'll start making a few blocks.

I had not seen that quote from Mark Twain, but it rings true to my experience. I guess that I why I choose to be friends with really great people. They never say "you can't do that" - they always say "Great, try it!"

I strive to show that attitude.

Interestingly, I have not experienced the thoughts expressed in those sayings. Those in my life have been very inspiring and encouraging/of the life attitude "to be all that you can be". And I am very grateful: inspiration births inspiration!!!! I do, however, see the huge truths in those adages as I do in the old admonishment.....(from Mom?)"watch the company you keep"/"don't hang with the wrong crowd". Thought provoking post!

Some of us folks just need to hear that. Whenever I'm down on myself I always think about the movie, Rudy. It is a great movie on setting a goal and sticking to it despite the naysayers.

You can do anything you set your mind to do!

We need to dream big. When you do, there will be a chance that you won't achieve it, but don't ever let it be from lack of trying! If you are determined, you are likely to achieve more than you dared hope...and maybe even more than you ever dreamed possible. But sadly, many people may never try because someone told them they couldn't achieve their dream...including themselves.

You know that you've surrounded yourself with good friends when you share with them the dream you have, and they excitedly tell you that they can't wait to see it happen...and want to know how to get there!!

This is timely for me because the other day I was going through photos of a quilt show I visited and feeling more and more depressed that my quilts would never live up to those show quilts.

My blog friends remind me that my projects are beautiful and great just the way they are, so thank you :)

This is so true, especially the Mark Twain quote. True greatness always helps others; it's the wannabe great ones who make themselves feel bigger by making others feel small.

I hope this was a random post today, and not in response to someone putting you down, Darlene. Just in case, quilty hugs and love have been sent your way over the Internet!
