Winners of the 2012 Free Motion Quilting Challenge - June

I hope everyone participating in the 2012 Free Motion Quilting Challenge is having fun learning and improving their FMQ skills. For those that may be reading this post and not participating, I want to share that everyone is welcome to join this challenge anytime.  It is all about free-motion quilting on a home/domestic sewing machine, getting introduced to a number of FMQ Experts, FMQ designs, as well as learning about products appropriate for those interested in FMQ.

Before I announce the winners of the June FMQ Challenge, where Cindy Needham shared an amazing free-motion quilting tutorial, along with many wonderful  tips too, I want to recognize our sponsors for this challenge.

After they complete 12 tutorials (any combination of monthly tutorials and bonus tutorials) anytime in 2012.    More info on how to enter to win a Grand Prize will be shared later this summer.   In te meantime, save photos/links that show you've completed any of these tutorials as it will help you when you enter. And for those of you that are doing the optional FMQ Sampler Quilt, you will simply need to show a photo of your completed sampler quilt created using any 12 tutorials (monthly or bonus) shared during this challenge.  For newbies in this challenge that are not aware of the sampler quilt, visit the post that shared insights on two possible FMQ Sampler Quilt designs to use for this challenge.

Congrats to the winners!
And thanks to you for sponsoring this challenge. When it began I was a wet behind the ears, barely starting out machine quilter who didn't believe I could ever catch on. Though I have more often than not been THE VERY LAST ONE TO LINK on the monthly challenge, I have stuck with it--and enjoyed it. As I came out of my sewing room the other day after practicing I actually said out loud to myself "I can do this!" I reflected on how I got to this point and I believe it is in large part because of this challenge. I have taken on things I might otherwise never have tried, but because I had made a commitment to do this I had to follow through. It has stretched me and taught me and I have definitely grown in my skills and confidence.
So I say again, thank you, SewCalGal, for all of the effort you have put into coordinating this. I'm sure there are many, like me, who have benefitted greatly through your efforts!

Congratulations to those who won prizes for June! When I began this challenge, I really couldn't FMQ, but set learning it (and improving) as a goal for this year. At the beginning of the year I was terrified that I wouldn't be able to keep up or do the tutorials, but I realized after completing June & July's assignments that I can now FMQ! No expert, for certain, but I couldn't believe the difference these past 6 1/2 months have made in my skills! Now THAT's the REAL prize!! Thanks!!
