One of the first things I do when I visit a Quilt Shop is check out their quilt books.  I enjoy visiting homes of quilting friends and getting a chance to view quilting books in their library!  And, I'm always eager to hear about new releases of quilting books too!  So, needless to say, I'm excited to share some insights, with you today,  on a few new quilting books, published by Martingale & Company, home of That Patchwork Place

English Paper Piecing: Fresh New Quilts from Bloom Creek, by Vicki Bellino

There are 12 beautiful patterns in this new book, by Vicki Bellino, each with easy to follow instructions and great visuals, making this an excellent book for someone new to quilting and wanting to learn English Paper Piecing (EPP).  Combined with the innovative designs in this book, it is also an excellent book for those that have experience with EPP and are looking for fun and creative ways to use this technique in their quilts and other projects.  After reading this book, the possibilities of EPP are clearly endless!  Love it! 

Pretty Patchwork Quilts: Traditional Patterns with Applique' Accents, by Cindi Walker

The 12 designs in this book incorporate beautiful blocks with great settings and borders, all with well written instructions and visuals.   But, with the level of complex piecing, the designs in this book are best suited for a very confident beginner and/or experienced quilters that enjoy creating stunning quilts!  A few designs include applique' accents that can be done by hand, or machine.

dynamic QUILTS with easy CURVES: 19 Projects to stack, shuffle, and sew, by Karla Alexander

This book is filled with 19 amazing projects all created with fast cutting and sewing techniques to make spectacular quilted items.  Designs are appropriate for beginners, as well as interesting and fun for experienced quilters too!   Instructions for Karla's fun technique are available in two formats: Creative Grids quilting rulers designed by Karla herself or cut your curves freehand.

Civil War Legacies: Quilt Patterns for Reproduction Fabrics, by Carol Hopkins

Carol's new book shares 15 patchwork quilt designs from her Civil War legacies collection.  Each pattern has instructions that are easy to follow and have great visuals, and samples show these designs using current reproduction fabrics.  This is a "must have" book for quilters that enjoy quilts from this period. And, these designs are timeless and SewCalGal also believes these designs would look great in batiks and many modern fabrics too!


SEW the Perfect Gift: 25 Handmade Projects from Top Designers
