Hugo's Amazing Tape

This past year, I've been testing Hugo's Amazing Tape to see how it would benefit any quilting, sewing, or embroidery enthusiast.  It is a "reusable" tape that comes in a variety of sizes and is marketed to have an endless number of uses.  But, again, I was curious to see how it would help a quilting, sewing or embroidery enthusiast.

I have found a variety of uses for this Amazing Tape, and I believe there are many more applications for how it can be used by quilting, sewing, or embroidery enthusiasts, along with general use in a home or office.

I found it to be helpful for wrapping spools of threads that may want to unravel.

I found it very easy to use to secure and pack power cords.  Plus, you can easily use a permanent marker to write your contact info on the Amazing Tape.
I liked these ease of taping a pen (or pencil) to my water bottle, for when I attended a quilt class, or retreat.

I also liked how I could tape extra fabric cut with the AccuQuilt Die, to the respective die, to help organize and help me match up these die cuts with future cuts.

I liked how I could use this tape to bundle fabric.

I did find that in severe weather changes, such as when we have "Santa Ana" weather come into Southern California, that a hold by this tape may not work.  When those weather conditions happened and I had pulled out an item wrapped with this tape, I'd simply re-wrap it.  Thus, I can't say how this product would work in various  WW weather conditions, but  I do believe that if you use it and find that it might have loosened a grip, because of a weather change, as a resusable product, all you would need to do is re-wrap it.

My conclusion is this is a great product and something that every quilting, sewing and embroidery enthusiast should have in their stash and home.   The more I use the tape, the more ideas I come up with ways to use it.  And I love the ability to reuse any piece of this tape that I've previously used.

The PR video for Hugo's Amazing Tape may also give you other ideas for how to use this Amazing Tape.

Hugo's Amazing Tape is available via many online quilt stores and you should also be able to find it at your local quilt stores.  If not, let them know you would like to have them order it (from Brewers or Checker distributors).

If you have any experience with this product and/or ideas on how to use it, I'd like to hear your insights.  Again, I was skeptical at first. But I now have found that there are so many ways for quilting, sewing & embroidery enthusiasts to use this product, and I love the ability to re-use this tape, that I will give a recommendation by SewCalGal.

It sure does do a lot.
It seems to me that your apple core has a slight bow to it? I got my second one and it is the same, maybe they are all like that. Can you send me a side view of yours?

Hey, I have some of the tape and have used it to wrap thread. Wonder where it is? Guess I'll have to go look for it. Thanks for the reminder.

Hugo used to come to a sewing show in Denver here years ago. My friend was so enchanted with him. His was an old geeser then, who seemed to have a different young chick on his arm every show. I still laugh at her and her crush on ole Hugo! :-) Oh yeah, his tape is great, but if you buy thin cheap clear tablecloth plastic (Wal Mart if you lucky to have one with fabrics yet) it works just about as well.

I purchased the 1" tape a long time ago and use it in many of the same ways you do. It is also useful to use as a"stopper" on a ruler when you are cutting a lot of the same size strips or blocks. I have also used it as a stitching guide on my machine. Mine is purple so it shows up nicely. I know you will find a lot more things to use it with.

I've been using this tape for years now for taming the thread tails on my embroidery thread large cones, and to wrap extension cords...

Yes....it is a must have.

Would it work for taping quilt backing to the floor for when I'm sandwiching the quilt together? I use blue painter's tape now.

I also have used this tape to wrap thread spools, as you do. I have also used if for a less "quilty" function - to keep one of our small stereo speakers together when Charlie, our cat, knocked it off its stand! The back had come away and a few wraps of this tape and it's good as new - or almost :)

TIP: With PERMANENT Magic Marker I have written Needle Sizes on Little Rectangles of this Tape, I then Wrap ONE around the RIGHT Corner/Back The Tape that Coordinates with the SIZE NEEDLE in the MACHINE, So I never have to GUESS What Needle Size is in My Sewing Machine When I Sew, it Right There where I can Peel and Look-See! Great for Many Other Things Like Your Post States!

Love this stuff. The place where I order my emboidery thread always sends pieces of it to wrap around my spools.

I have used this tape for years. You can make a similar tape from clear plastic, but it's not portable like this is. I have also used it on the back of rulers to keep them from slipping. It's a great product!
