I've seen classes, at various quilt shops, with this design and I decided to sign up and take a class with Jan Hayman, at Cozy Quilt Shop. Jan had made this design many times, and had many tips to share.
It was a fun class and I enjoyed seeing a variety of fabric prints and colors used to create this tote. And everyone's tote turned out beautifully.
I used some nautical fabrics, from my stash.
The Professional Tote is a very durable tote, which uses Decor Bond. This was my first time to work with Decor Bond and I really liked using it and how it gives this tote a durable feel with sufficient body to stand on its' own. I'm already looking forward to making more of these totes and giving some away for Christmas gifts.
The pattern contains detailed instructions with good visuals. There are many pieces, but the pattern contains tags to mark each piece and respective stablizer. If you are new to making bags and not able to find a class, you may want to recruit a friend and the two of you make The Professional Tote together. And you'll have more fun making this beautiful tote together!

It is a great tote. Love it and look at that view you had up there at your recent retreat.
That is one awesome bag! I had to have a friend help me make a bag. With her guidance we were successful :-) It's always more fun to sew with a buddy.
It looks great and looks like it could hold a ton of stuff in a very organized way.
Darlene,
Your tote bag turned out gorgeous! I love the nautical fabric you used. Thank you for the kind words you said about my pattern and thrilled that you had such a good time making it.

Great totes!!
Thank you for the link.
I love your bag. My daughter "borrowed" mine and has been using it as a diaper bag for a long time. It's a great pattern - we both love it. Maybe it's time for me to make a new one.
I have seen this bag in person... it's a wonderful bag. I have the pattern, but have not yet been brave enough to try it. Congrats on getting it DONE!!!
Darlene....come on now....I leave tomorrow and I could have had such a spanky bag to take!!! I'd have to stay up all night if I had the pattern. Good thing I don't!!! Not yet anyway :)
Wonderful bag....you know I need one of those too!
Smiles,
Kelly
