Bloom Creek quilts, by Vicki Bellino

"Bloom Creek quilts", by Vicki Bellino, is an amazing quilt book full of beautiful designs for quilters of all levels and styles.  Many quilters have made beautiful quilts using original Bloom Creek designs. But I must confess, I'm new to learning about Bloom Creek designs.  I'm not sure how I could have overlooked Bloom Creek designs, but I'm definitely a fan after seeing this book.
This book contains 14 of Vicki's designs, some of which are her older designs, where she made changes to based on customer feedback, or her own "shoulda, coulda, wouldas", such as enlarging or converting a design from Charm Packs or Jelly Rolls to yardage.  This book is published by Martingale & Company, home of That Patchwork Place, which means it is a high quality book that has great visuals, well written instructions, and inspirational photos.
I enjoyed how this book starts off with sharing insights on the basics, which include great  insights on working with precut fabrics (e.g. Charm Squares or Jelly Rolls), applique techniques (freezer paper, hand, fusible, etc.), on thru preparing your quilt for machine quilting, hanging sleeves, and binding.  Thus, I view this book is an excellent book for a new quilter, as well as an advanced quilter looking for fun and easy designs.

I found all of the designs to be well written and able to work well for those that may want to make a quilt using charm squares, jelly rolls or buy their own yardage.

Designs range in size from 12" x 28" (wallhanging)  to a 71-1/2 x 81" (quilt).  Designs were also included for a cute pillow and a large tote bag.  Some designs include optional Applique that really adds a interesting perspective to the design.  Each design is truly spectacular, and would look great in any home, and also make a wonderful gift.  The quilts in this book could easily be made in a variety of color palettes, but collectively the quilts inspire quilters to create quilts for all seasons.
Techniques are traditional patchwork, with many of the designs containing some applique.  But every technique used to make these spectacular quilts are well documented in this book, and easy to follow.  I have truly fallen in love with Vicki's designs, and her new book "Bloom Creek quilts".

I can apply techniques from this book to all my quilting projects, and I'm looking forward to making projects from designs in this book.  I just need to figure out which to do first?  Birdhouse Welcome (wallhanging), Blooms for Annabelle (quilt), Brandyvine Tote Bag, A Pack of Posies (table runner), Home for the Holidays,  or one of the other 14 beautiful designs.  Ok. I'll take this beautiful book to bed with me tonight and I'm sure it will speak to me as to which project in this book will be my first.

I hope you will check out this book soon. I'm sure you'll love it too!

Thanks for the great review. it's always good to hear first hand what a book is like. I order a lot of my books from Amazon and it's often hard to know what they are really like inside and whether they are what I am looking for. It's good to have the recommendation from a fellow quilter :-) Thanks.
