Double Take Quilts With That Hopscotch Twist
Another wonderful new book has just been released, and I’ve found it to be a delightful book that has something for everyone. "Double Take Quilts With That Hopscotch Twist" was written by Heather Willms and Elissa Willms, and published by Martingale & Company, home of That Patchwork Place.
This mother-daughter design team has created a wonderful book, full of original designs with well written project instructions for beginners, intermediate and advanced quilters.
They include a section on their favorite quilt making techniques, including tips on tools, choosing fabrics, working with wool, appliqué’ methods, embroidery stitches, and finishing the quilt. All with great visuals.
Inside of this book, there are 16 projects which range in size from 13”x18” to 80 1/2”x88 1/2”. To clarify, projects range include a variety of sizes from full size quilts, wall hangings, table toppers, placemats and totes. Designs are all machine pieced, with opportunities to embellish with simple appliqué designs.
Fun insights are also shared. For example, wouldn’t a cheerful quilt add some spark to your bathroom as a shower curtain? Well, Heather and Elissa have provided insights on how to make a quilted shower curtain with pizzazz. I also enjoyed their insights for creating unique quilt labels!
This amazing mother-daughter design team are also co-owners of Hopscotch Quilt Shop in Coaldale, Alberta, Canada. You can visit their shop on the web at http://www.hopscotchquiltshop.com/ SewCalGal was very impressed to learn that Elissa opened Hopscotch Quilt Shop when she was 15 years old!
Heather and Elissa’s first book, “Christmas Quilts From Hopscotch” was published in the summer of 2008, by Martingale & Company. With the enjoyment I’ve received from their new book “Double Take Quilts with that Hopscotch Twist”, I definitely want to get a copy of “Christmas Quilts from Hopscotch” too!
These books can be purchased online from Martingale & Company.

I am loving those pics where the star just POPS out. Ooh, I LOVE it.
This is a wonderful book. Thank you for letting us know about it.
What another wonderful book, thanks for the info.
Is this the same Elissa that has some how to videos on QNN TV? I love the idea of the mother/daughter team. You always get different perspectives then, like with Camille and Bonnie. I have to add this book to my wish list!
Hmm, reading your review and looking at the photos I've just realised how much I react to colour as much as design. I adore all these gorgeous earthy, autumnal quilts but don't think I would be os keen if they were in other colours! Maybe quilt books ought to print B/W versions too!!
