Topstitch

Up in the mountains, in a beautiful community known as Waimea, on the Big Island of Hawaii, is a delightful quilt store named Topstitch.  This store has been in different locations on the Big Island, over many years.  It has also had a few owners.  But no matter the location, or the owner, it has always been a delightful quilting store. For those that live on this island, they are fortunate to have such a store nearby.  And, for those of us, like me, that live off island, it is a destination quilt store that can make visiting Hawaii very special.

Topstitch has a lovely selection of fabrics.
They have a nice selection of novelties and patterns, including many patterns unique to Hawaii.
And they have beautiful quilts on display, many of which are for sale.
Besides patterns and gifts, they also have many Hawaiian kits for sale.  This is a great way to learn Hawaiian quilting.
On a personal perspective, I've made many Hawaiian quilts over the years.  This particular quilt (shown below) has definitely caught my eye and speaks to me, requesting me to make it in the future.  This quilt is beautifully made and machine quilted and has a very interesting Hawaiian style design!  I've always done hand quilting on Hawaiian quilts, but I really love the machine quilting on this quilt.
This Hawaiian quilt {below} uses more modern fabrics, with use of beautiful batiks.  It is a great design and one that I think would also be a great design for someone that is familiar with applique and wants to make a Hawaiian quilt.
This cute beach quilt may not be a traditional Hawaiian style, but certainly works well with a beach vacation theme.  Wouldn't you love to relax under this umbrella, with this ocean view?  {or have this quilt to dream about doing such?}
The heliconia flower has always caught my attention in Hawaii, so I must say I really admire this quilt which shows a heliconia flower.  Beautiful design and workmanship.
Yes, a visit to the Big Island of Hawaii is something I wish you get the opportunity to do soon.  And, I hope you can get a chance to visit Topstitch.  After all, "Whoo" wouldn't want to visit this lovely quilt shop?
Liz Moiha is the new owner of the Topstitch quilt shop.  She has lived in Waimea, Hawaii, almost 20 years.  She loves quilting and quilters and wants all her customers to have fun and enjoy shopping at Topstitch.

If you are not able to make a trip to Hawaii, Liz is also able to take special orders over the phone or thru email.

Also, if you are interested in creating pre-made quilting kits, you may want to contact Liz to see if your kits would be appropriate for this store.  She is looking for those interested in making Hawaiian quilt kits, but may also be receptive for other types of kits too.

Looks like a nice place to visit sometime - do you find the prices to be pretty much the same as main land stores?

Wiamea on the big island? I was hoping it was the Wiamea on the island of Oahu as we get there more often. I will have to check it out if I get there. I love the sashiko stitching on the heliconia flower.
