Monica's Quilt & Beads is a lovely shop in Palm Desert, Ca., owned by Monica Gonzales. Monica is a delightful person, who is also very talented in many ways and very inspirational! This store is well known in Southern California and I highly recommend that if you have not had a chance to visit, please go as I'm sure you'll enjoy it. And if you live out of the area, the So. California desert is a great vacation spot that is well known world-wide.....and perfect for quilters (as well as those that enjoy beading & sewing). 
This shop has a great selection of fabrics, patterns, books, beads & other items. I also believe they have the "best" selection of "new books" that I've ever seen in any store. Plus, they do a fantastic job at displaying their products and have a very friendly and experienced staff.
In addition to being a delight quilt & bead shop, this shop helps to host an exceptional quilt retreat every summer. To clarify, this retreat opportunity is offered annually every weekend in August. The format is a mystery quilt, using a professionally designed quilt pattern. Participants select fabric kits that were cut from Monica's Quilts & Beads or the Calico House.
While I have shared some insight on these quilt retreats in the past, and plan to share more in the future, I simply want to share that this is an exceptional well run quilt retreat that provides fun to all partipants in a fun environment. And, this coming weekend is the last weekend for this retreat to be offered in 2009.........and, there are still a "few" openings to join this retreat.

Thanks for the tour. I almost felt like I went there with you...which would prob be the only way I could go...being as I am in MO and don't get out of it much. Love that its beads and quilts in one stop!
