Elaine Waldschmitt is the delightful and talented owner of The Quilted Closet. She is also a pattern designer, fabric designer, and author. As a little girl, Elaine grew up watching her grandmother stitching hand-appliqued quilts during the cold, Minnesota winter nights. Elaine took a 4-H sewing class, when she was nine years old, and from that point on she has been an avid sewer and quilter. Her parents even gave her her very own sewing machine as a High School graduation present!
The Quilted Closet® was opened in the mid-1990's, and always has been home-based business, allowing Elaine to have flexibility with her family. Her online store has a broad selection of products, including her great patterns, books and fabrics.
She also travels to shows, of which you may be lucky to see her and these upcoming events:
September 11-13, 2009 Quilt Expo, Madison, Wisconsin
Nancy Zieman Productions and Wisconsin Public Television
Retail Quilt Show
October 10-12, 2009 International Quilt Market, Houston, Texas
Open to wholesale trade only.
October 28-31, 2009 AQS-Des Moines, Des Moines, Iowa
American Quilter's Society
Retail Quilt Show
Elaine is thrilled and honored to design fabrics for Andover Fabrics. At the Barre
Fabrics, From the Attic Fabrics, A Capella Hearts Fabrics, and "Snow Day" Fabrics, all by Andover Fabrics, are some of the fabrics that Elaine has designed.
While I'll be writing more about Elaine's books & patterns, in the near future, I wanted to recommend that quilters, sewers, and shoppers, go visit her online store. I'm currently planning on making some Christmas gifts using Elaine's designs. Her Laurel's Travel Tote design is well written and easy to follow. I think this is going to help me make some very nice gifts.

Thanks for another great link! I have book marked the site. I love the travel tote. I think it would be great (and pretty) to have just for organizing things, not just for travel. And there are some fun boxers she has a pattern for on her site that I might like to stitch!
