Wrap-up - Year of Red and White Quilt Challenges

The Year of Red and White Quilt Challenges was all about increasing awareness of the beauty of red and white quilts, as well as increasing awareness of designs that are perfect for such quilts, as well as creating new designs, along with having fun and inspiring others.

Many enjoyed seeing red/white quilts made prior to 2014, new designs for red/white quilts, participants making quilts, as well as the final show for those that designed their own and the show for those that made a red/white quilt with a free or purchased pattern this year.  It was definitely a fun year for red/white quilts on SewCalGal.

And some of us were lucky to see the Red Jubilee at Quilt Market/Festival.

Of course, SewCalGal was also delighted to see a new book published "Red, White & Quilted", by Linda Baxter Lasco.  And there are a few quilts inside of this book, were beautifully quilted by Marlene Berg Oddie of Kissed Quilts.

As it is time to Wrap Up the Year of Red and White Quilt Challenges, before I announce the winners I want to recognize and thank all of the generous sponsors for this big event:

FatQuarterShop-Circle-225x225

Barn Quilts For Your Home

Before I announce the lucky winners, I want to clarify how all the prizes were awarded.  First, all of the participants were given an entry for each event they participated in, which included Blog Hop Kick off, Virtual Show of Quilts made prior to 2014,  Design It Challenge Make It Challenge, Virtual Show for Red/White Quilts made with free or purchased designs, Virtual Show for Red/White Quilts made with the creators design, and those that took time to vote for their favorite quilts.

There was a special prize, sponsored by Island Batik where they were able to select their favorite design and give the designer beautiful batiks to make their design with, as well as the opportunity to build a relationship with Island Batik for future quilt designs that might be made using their fabrics.

Next, the Viewers Choice winners were randomly allocated a prize. A forumula was used to divide the number of prizes to assign to each event, based on the number of participants in each event. This was followed by randomly drawing names from for each event  and randomly allocating the prizes.  Thus, as some participants entered more than one event everyone had the opportunity to win more than one prize.

While winners are being announced in this post today, an email message will also be sent to them.  They will have 5 days to claim their prize, or another name will be randomly selected.  Note to winners: If you see your name listed as a winner, before you receive an email from me, details are shown at the bottom of this page for how to email me to speed up the process to claim your prize.

Congratulations to the winners of the Viewers Choice Awards:

  9. Thanks for all of your work on this challenge. I found it to be inspirational to use only 2 colors, especially using red as it's hard to find reds that work well together but don't blend too much.
