While attending the IQF Long Beach show in 2011, I had the opportunity to meet Laura Heine. Laura is a Quilt Store Owner, Teacher, Designer and Free-Motion Quilting Expert. Her store, "
Fibreworks" is located in Billings, Montana. Needless to say, I was excited to be able to attend her free-motion quilting class at the 2012 IQF Long Beach event and happy to be able to share insights with you today.
The classroom was setup with plenty of space and every student had a new Bernina 500 series machine.
Laura is a knowledgeable teacher, that has an eye for free-motion quilting designs that represent nature. She has created many FMQ designs that are truly her own and is a great FMQ teacher for quilters of all levels.
Laura also has many unique and fun designs. Here are photos of a few of them.
And her free-motion quilting is beautiful. I just wish my photography could capture the beauty.
I was also delighted that all of the attendees in this class received a copy of her book "Laura's Little Book of Machine Quilting Designs". This book was originally published in 2005 and has over 70 FMQ designs that are captured by inspirational doodles.
The booklet "Laura's Little Book of Machine Quilting Designs" is a spiral bound book packed full of doodles of inspirational FMQ designs, with plenty of room for you to doodle within this book.
SewCalGal hopes you get a chance to take a class with Laura Heine AND classes at IQF too!

That sounds like a fun class to take. Her designs are great. I could use a class like that. The next time I go to my daughters and I am in Montana I may just have to take a detour to Billings;)
ReplyDeleteThank you for introducing Laura to your followers. I've not heard of her prior to this. (Maybe I live in a bubble?) lol I surely do love what I see of her FM quilting. It's unique and very, very lovely. Have a great weekend! :)
