Campaign to make the National Quilt Day and International Quilt Day
Some quilters will get together with friends, yet some will use the day to quilt at home, or take a class. Quilt Shops frequently hold parties. While originally a special day for quilters in the US, the National Quilt Day has now informally expanded to other countries too. But, I'd like to challenge every quilter to work together to help make the National Quilt Day become an International Quilt Day.
I hope you will contact your local quilt shops, quilt guilds, newspapers and politicians to ask for their support to recognize the International Quilting Day, not just a National Quilting Day. You can also request all quilting organizations and businesses for their support. If you have a blog, Facebook, or Twitter account help spread awareness of this campaign via all social networking tools (feel free to use this image, or create your own). Together, we can help bring Peace and Friendship Worldwide by making the National Quilting Day become an International Quilting Day, as we are all united by a common thread.
Let's celebrate International Quitling Day the 3rd Saturday in March, every year, starting in 2012.

That sounds like a great tradition. I am sure our friends in Australia would be up for it.
ReplyDeleteIt would make a wonderful tradition. Maybe even hold quilt runs to coincide with this.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! One of my LQSs has a big weekend event in March.
ReplyDeleteI do believe our provincial National quilt day is already on the 3rd Saturday of March but I will post this on our guild blog soon.
ReplyDeleteAs an international quilter-this sounds like a great idea! I'm going to send the link to this post to my local LQS.
ReplyDeleteHiya SCG, just thought I'd come let you know that one of my local guilt groups has already booked in their International Quilters Day for 2014...March 22nd and for any South Australians (or anyone in the area in fact) that might want to participate....it's in Loxton Sth Australia.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait...hoping to be part of this event EVERY year.
