Start with a Sweatshirt

While this may be the time of the year where you are happy to pack up your sweatshirts that you wore this past winter, I do think this is also an excellent time of year to plan a sweatshirt project for this fall.  Plus, they are truly stylish year round and you may want a nice jacket for a late evening BBQ this summer!  Thus, I'm happy to share insights with you on a new book that is full of great ideas for making jackets all based on using a sweatshirt.

"Start with a Sweatshirt 2", by Nancie M. Wiseman, published by Martingale & Company, has five cute jacket designs all made using sweatshirts.  And every design includes easy to follow instructions with great visuals to make beautiful sweatshirt jackets in sizes S-M-L-XL-2XL.

Instructions also include great visuals, as well as General instructions that will help you deconstruct the sweatshirt,  interface and prepare the sweatshirt and more.

Nancie is a Best-sellling author who pubished this book as a follow-up to her popular "Start with a Sweatshirt".  Both books are written for sewing enthusiasts of all skill levels, making this a perfect book for those new to sewing.

I also think this book would help build a summer sewing camp, at home, in a very economical way to prepare back-to-school attire, while teaching your teenagers sewing skills.  And maybe you'd want to join them and make one, or more, for yourself too.

Nancie has also published many other books with Martingale & Company, that share insights on more ways you can start with a sweatshirt, as well as other sewing projects.

I hope you will have a chance to check out "Start with a Sweatshirt 2" at your local sewing store, or online at Martingale & Company.

  8. Love the yellow tunic style sweater, I can definitely see myself wearing it this winter. In fact, if we do not get some warm weather soon, I could just wear it now. =)
    Cheers,

  12. Great review, Darlene. I haven't been too impressed about sweatshirt jackets in the past, but these would certainly make me change my mind. Would love to buy the book, but am afraid will have to wait until they decide to put out a digital version!
