Fun Friday Giveaway: Eleanor Burns and Quilt in a Day


The Quilters Hall of Fame was founded in 1979, during the Continental Quilting Congress (convention) held in Arlington, Virginia.  Since, 1979 the following quilters have been inducted:

And, during July 19-21st 2012 The Quilters Hall of Fame is going to induct Eleanor Burns. They'll workshops, ceremonies, exhibits and fun.  I hope you can make it.  Visit the Quilters Hall of Fame website for more information on this fun event.



There is even a "Salute to Eleanor Burns Contest" where you could win a prize.


Eleanor Burns has taught so many quilters and given from her heart, to help make our world of quilting so wonderful.  El is also a past 2011 and 2010 Golden Quilter Award Winner!  As such, SewCalGal is delighted that Eleanor is going to be inducted into the Quilters Hall of Fame this year.

  28. When I saw that Madame E Burns was going to be inducted this year, I was soooo happy!!! She has been one of the great influences in quilting from her very first published book! I just wonder what took them so long to induct her =)

  52. Good choice. Congratulations Eleanor. She was one of the first quilters that I saw on TV and the show was so fun. To me she will always be remembered for throwing the scraps and left over cuttings over her shoulder to the floor. I always wondered who cleaned up after her!

  56. I can't think of a quilter who deserves it more!! I am so HAPPY that Eleanor is receiving this honor:) I wouldn't be the quilter I am today without all those PBS Quilt in a Day shows. With tiny kids at home in the country, and long days, Eleanor really saved my sanity! I would be honored to win this pattern. Thanks for the opportunity!

  78. I have loved Eleanor Burns for years!! Used to see her show on tv faithfully and laughed along with her as she taught us to quilt. My stations don't carry her anymore so I am not sure if she is still doing a show. Would LOVE to win this pattern. Thanks for the chance!

    Eleanor's sister came to my Adult Education Class a few weeks ago to practice the talk she is going to be starting to do on the road soon - was so refreshing to see and hear about the new ways of doing the patterns. Eleanor has done a lot to encourage quilting!

And to think she started teaching quilting to support her kids after her divorce, she read a few books and confidently told her potential employer that she knew how to quilt and began teaching other how to do it as she learned for herself. Great success story.. how can we not be happy for Eleanor?
