Inspirational Free Motion Quilting at Road to California Quilt Show

I previously shared insights about how I "approach" attending a quilt show.  I don't feel there is a right or a wrong way to attend a quilt show, but I do believe if you don't take advantage of attending quilt shows you loose out on a lot of inspirational opportunities.  For me, as I've been on a quest to learn and improve my free-motion quilting (FMQ) skills, I  certainly had fun attending the 2012 Road to California Quilt Show.  While at this show, I spent most of my time looking at quilts that displayed inspirational FMQ.  Today, I want to share a few of these quilts with you.

{Below} Plumeria Stars made by Kimberly Einmo and quilted by Birgit Schueller, of Palm Harbor, Florida.

{below} A Truly Feathered Star, by Karen L. Sievert of Gainesville, Ill.

{Below} Rare Catch, by Diane Steffen, Lake Ozark, MO

{below} Sunlit Circles, by Ann L. Petersen, Surprise, Arizona

I hope you enjoyed seeing these beautiful quilts and the excellent free-motion quilting that helped to make each of these quilts even more magnificient.

  4. Thanks for the great shots of the quilting.

I'm glad you are focusing more on the quilting aspect of quilts this year. I feel like I've only been focusing on the piecing of quilts, but the quilting of a quilt and make it or break it.

  13. Love teh forst one ... because there are no feathers. I love feathers but everybody does them, so I find it refreshingto see a quilt without feathers!

I also love the second ... yep, know it has feathers, but they are used very well!

  16. I keep thinking how beautiful these are! I wish I could make them larger to see what they did. Especially the one with the squares and it looks like a pebble in the corner. The quilt right above "rare catch". How would you describe the technique?
