Inspirational Quilts at the Road to California Quilt Show 2011

The Road to California Quilters' Conference and Showcase, at the Ontario Convention Center, in Ontario, California is a World Class show that runs thru Sunday, January 22nd.   I do hope you have an opportunity to visit this spectacular show this year and if not, you can come to a show in the future.

I want to share with you some insights on the spectacular quilts and exhibits at the show this year.  Overall, the show had an excellent variety of traditional quilts vs. art quilts.  And I found every quilt to be one that inspired, from the perspective of use of color, quilting, design, to overall composition.  Here are few quilts that I am randomly selecting to share with you, to give you a flavor of this wonderful show.

{above} Sandra Leichner, of Albany, Oregon, entered this beautiful qhilt in the Traditional Wall Mixed Category, sponsored by Cozy Quilt Designs.  The title of this delightful quilt is "Tea with Miss D." and the description for this quilt reflected the artist inspiration of "Celebrating a friendship and our common love of girly team time things".

The detail in this quilt was amazing.

{above} Lenore Crawford, of Midland, MI submitted this beautifl quilt in the category of Art-Pictorial, sponsored by Sulky of America.

{above}  Angies Steveson of Scottsdale, Arizon entered this tropical drink theme quilt with wonderful machine applique, colors and overall design that sparkled fun.
{Above} Gina Perkes, of Payson Arizona, entered this beautiful quilt in the category of Traditional Wall Mixed, sponsored by Cozy Quilt Design.  Gina died over 100 yard of fabric to get the colors the way she pictured it for this quilt.

The quilting was well executed.

{above} Monica Troy submitted this amazing quilt in the category of Traditional Wal Applique', sponsored by Amidon quiltworks.  She used Kona Cotton and some hand dyed fabrics, with beautiful quilting.

{above} Maryellen Mencimer, of India, CA. entered this beautiful Traditional Large Pieced Quilt she named "Bears in the Desert".

This beautiful quilt was quilted by Karen Lummus, also of India, Ca.

John Flynn is also the featured artist and there is an amazing exhibit of his quilts at this show.

I do wish I could share more insights on all the spectacular quilts at this show. They were beautifuly displayed, with great lighting, space, and room to view.  Definitely a wonderful opportunity to visit and enjoy all the quilts in this show, that came from all over the world, by very talented quilters.

  13. "Tea with Miss D" was my favorite quilt at the Houston Quilt Festival, where it one a BIG prize, $5000, I think it was. Did you get to see the label on the back? It looked like an invitation to a tea party. Just lovely. I must have taken 20 pictures of this quilt. 8)

    Happy quilting,
