Fun Friday Giveaway: Decorate Your Shoes

Do you believe you can spot a quilter in a crowd?  What exactly gives us away?  Possibly it is the earrings that some of us wear.  You know those spools of thread or cute quilts in clay earrings that many of us love.  Of course, having a t-shirt with a quilt image can give us away.  And, then many of us always walk around with strings dangling off of our clothes.   But, when you see someone walking around with really cute shoes that have a quilting motif, I think that would definitely send a statement "I love to Quilt".

It can certainly be fun to get dressed up to attend a Quilt Show, Guild Meeting, Retreat, or a Sew-cial and wear some fun quilty items.  Even more fun to make them, so that you know they are unique and represent you.  As such, I was quite excited to learn about a new book that I get to share insights with you today.

"Decorate Your Shoes: Create One-of-a-Kind Footwear", by Annemart Berendse, published by American Quilter's Society is a fun new book.  This book will certainly help you decorate your shoes in an endless number of quilting designs, based on techniques shared on this book, but I think it would also make for a fun group activity, even a quilt guild challenge.  And, store owners that are looking for ways to get customers in your store - use this book to create a fun activity that you could even host a Quilter's Shoe Show (like a fashion show).

Annemart is a Dutch Quilter who shares her insights on decorating various types of shoes from sandals, tennis shoes, clogs and more.  There are 11 fun designs included in this book, with easy to follow instructions.  But the possibilities do not stop here, as you could have fun applying these techniques to more designs and more objects (e.g. purses, totes, belts, etc.).

What fun  you could have wearing embellished shoes to any quilting activity, as well as shopping, going out to dinner, etc..

Plus, you know your comfy shoes will look beautiful, just like your quilts!

I hope you get a chance to check out "Decorate your Shoes" at your local quilt store soon, or online at AQS.

For those attending the AQS Michigan Quilt Show, August 22-25th, be sure to visit the AQS booth for a chance to meet Annemart Berendse in person.
